Fire Safety Preparedness Resources

It’s important to help prepare your family for emergencies of all kinds. Here are some great resources and information to help you make the first move in a crisis involving a fire.

Alarms At Your Home

The Yorktown Fire Department is partnered with the Indiana Department of Homeland Security to provide AND install smoke alarms to residents AT NO COST. Up to 2 alarms per household are covered.

Carbon Monoxide (CO) alarms are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED in all residences, but especially in all houses using natural gas for heating.

To request a free smoke alarm, please complete this form below.

Help Us Find You

A green reflective address sign is an excellent way to help prepare your home for an emergency to assist Fire, EMS, or Police in finding your home. The Yorktown Fire Department can help you get the right sign for just $20.

To request a sign, complete this two step process. Signs will not be ordered until payment is received.

  1. Submit the form below
  2. You will be redirected to Venmo where you can send a payment of $20 to @YorktownFD-FireAssociation

Knox Box

Trusted by thousands of fire and law enforcement agencies for over 40 years, Knox Rapid Access Solutions have provided first responders with immediate access into secure buildings, campuses, residences and commercial properties when it matters most. Removing barriers to entry reduces injuries to responders and minimizes property damage. That’s the power of the Knox rapid access system.

As a commercial property owner, we encourage you to purchase a Knox Box in coordination with our Fire Inspector to help us better serve you and reduce any unnecessary damage due to a required forced entry.
