Yorktown Fire Department
The Yorktown Fire Department has been proudly serving the residents of Yorktown and Mt. Pleasant Township since 1913. We are an all volunteer department with around 35 members that covers 30 square miles and approximately 11,000 residents. While starting out as a strictly firefighting service, the department provides so much more:
Emergency Medical Situations // Water Rescues // Structural Collapses // Rope Rescues // Trench Collapses // Confined Space Emergencies // Hazardous Materials // Vehicle Accidents // Investigations // Inspections // Public Education/Awareness Events // Provides Smoke Detectors and Installation // Welfare Checks // and more
Volunteer firefighters serve and protect Yorktown’s residents in response to a call to civic duty. They know that what they do is making a difference in the community and the lives of countless families every year. Our department is an entirely volunteer team consisting of residents and out-of-area individuals with a commitment and heart to serve our community.
While some of the volunteers here are career firefighters at other departments, the designation does not diminish the professionalism or quality of our men and women. We train and certify personnel to match all of the same standards as every full-time firefighter in Indiana. Anyone with a willingness and passion has the potential…
