Spread The Word – Join The Volunteers

The Yorktown Volunteer Fire Department (YFD) is in a crucial recruiting campaign through August 31 to address our longstanding challenge of operating understaffed. For many years, we have diligently served the community with a significantly smaller team than optimal. We are halfway to our goal of identifying 20 new volunteer firefighters to train in the upcoming training class starting on September 3, 2024.

Your Influence is Needed
As with any long promotion, campaign fatigue can begin to set in and the message can be muted. We need you to be one of 30 key voices and influencers in our community speaking simultaneously to the critical importance of volunteer firefighters.

Speak On Our Behalf
Sunday, August 18 – Tuesday, August 21. Over the course of 3 days, we need you to raise awareness and invite people to fulfill a civic duty.

– share a post with a personal appeal from the YFD Facebook page
– speak with people at your church, work, or social events
– personally send a message of invitation to someone that includes a link to our website
– create a post using resources below

If you could complete at least 1 of these shares, that would be a huge benefit for raising the volume of the conversation. If you can share this in multiple places, times, and across your various networks…you could be the key to helping provide life-saving services for someone in this community.

Why Does This Matter?
If your family or neighbors ever experience an emergency, Yorktown’s Volunteer Firefighters are often first responders on seen.

Volunteer firefighters play an essential role in our community, responding to approximately 1,000 calls annually, including structural fires, medical emergencies, and rescues. Their dedication and bravery are necessary for the well-being of Yorktown’s residents.
